According to the Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch - the world's only totally reliable guide to the future - the world will end on a Saturday. Next Saturday, in fact. Just after tea...

So the Kraken is stirring, and the Four Button-Pushers of the Apocalypse have dusted off their Harleys.

But long-time friends - since the seventh day of the Creation, actually - Aziraphale and Crowley decide that they'd better do something about it.

Although Crowley is a demon and, as such, approves of the idea of Armageddon in general terms, he's been enjoying life too much to want to see such a radical change; a fact that has not gone totally unoticed by his superiors Below him and has meant that he has ended up in Hell's bad books - not that Hell has any other kind.

And the angel, Aziraphale? ... well, thwarting Armageddon is just part of his job description, after all ...

Of course it might make their job slightly easier in that it appears that he who is known as 'the Adversary, Destroyer of Kings, Angel of the Bottomless Pit, Great Beast that is called Dragon, Prince of This World, Father of Lies, Spawn of Satan and Lord of Darkness' seems to have been, not so much lost as misplaced...

This book was a collaboration between Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman using the few hours of each day in which they were both awake at the same time.

Dom Sabalos, the young heir to the immensely wealthy Sabalos dynasty, has a strangely uncertain future..

Probability math, the infallible science of foretelling the future, has predicted his assassination in 24 hours - but it has also predicted that he will go on to discover the fabulous, almost mythical, world of the Jokers.

The Jokers are the ancient race of this galaxy. They have been there, done that, ticked it off, and disappeared millions of years ago - leaving behind many clues to their existence, but only one to their location. They are to be found on 'the Dark Side of the Sun'.

So Dom, stalked by a robot-assassin programmed for luck, sets off to fulfill his destiny, aided by his personal robot (programmed to use illogic) and such beings as the planet-sized First Bank of Sirius - which happens to be a sentient computer as well as being Dom's godfather.

Kin Arad works for the Company.

The Company builds worlds, and one of Kin's jobs is to make sure that none of her workers slips a little joke in to the detail - such a dinosaur fossil bearing an 'End Nuclear Testing Now' sign.

When Jago Jalo appears in her office - literally appears, he had been wearing a cloak of invisibility - and tells her he's found a new Spindle site, she's intrigued.

Only nine of the ancient Spindle sites had ever been found - ten if you included the derelict ship. The prototype strata machine that had allowed them to build worlds had been found at one of these sites. The details of the gene surgery that could extend human life almost limitlessly was found at another.

And this new Spindle site is a whole world... and, what's more, it's flat...

Eat your heart out, Copernicus, the Flat-Earthers were right!

The Campaign For Real Cats.

Far too many people these days have grown used to boring, mass-produced cats which may bounce with health and nourishing vitamins but aren't a patch on the good old cats you used to get.

Many Real cats are instantly recognisable -

Real cats have faces that look as though they have been put in a vice and repeatedly hit by a hammer with a sock around it.

Real cats have ears that look as though they have been trimmed with pinking shears.

Real cats catch things - and eat nearly all of everything they catch.

A Real cat's aim in life is to get through it peacefully, with as little interference from humans as possible.

And Real cats are captured to perfection by Gray Jolliffe's illustrations in this book.
